Each section of a sectional door carries a pair of rollers, one at each end, mounted on hinges and brackets. The rollers run in galvanized steel track bolted to the door jambs, then curve into horizontal track under the ceiling. How a door leaves its track

The typical story starts with the bottom section. A car bumper, a lawn tractor or a door closing onto a bin pushes the bottom section inward; the track, which is thin roll-formed steel, bends with it; a roller finds the gap and pops out. The slower stories are wear.
